Oralase/ Smilelase / Babylase

Oralase, Smilelase and Babylase are gentle and safe laser light therapies which help to release and stretch fascia and reduce dense scar tissue. The therapy also improves the tone, function and mobility of the oral and facial muscles as well as calm an overactive nervous system.

These therapies use a laser light of a very specific frequency which feels like a mild warmth which is applied in a carefully planned sequence to the head, neck and mouth of the patient.  The warm therapy feels like being in the sunlight and creates a deep sense of relaxation and ease. This technique is similar to the concept of photobiomodulation with the additional secondary benefit of cranial nerve stimulation and integration which is very beneficial particularly for infants who have endured birth trauma and cranial strains. This laser light therapy also allows primitive reflex integration and neuromuscular integration which allows the nerves and muscles to communicate efficiently. Humans have 12 cranial nerves, 6 of which are involved in swallowing. When the nerves and muscles communicate better, the muscles can move fluidly and efficiently for swallowing and breathing.

Babylase therapy performed before a surgical release leads to a more minimally invasive surgery, smaller wound site and faster healing. It also ensures neuromuscular connectivity and having a calm nervous system before surgery allows for healing at a deep level. Ideally, in preparation for a surgical release, Smilelase/ Babylase is performed 7 days prior, but can also be done on the same day.

Dr Shoha trained in this modality in 2017 and recently became one of only 35 practitioners certified and authorized to perform this procedure. The results seen with this therapy are incredible. Range of motion, muscle tone and pain management can be seen immediately but often 3 treatments yield the optimal results.
