At Biodentistry MI, we provide comprehensive, holistic dental care for patients of all ages—because we believe true oral health supports whole-body wellness. A dental prophylaxis at our practice is far more than just a routine cleaning. Each visit begins with a thorough examination of the head, neck, and oral tissues, paired with a full set of digital radiographs to assess your oral health from every angle. Our cleanings incorporate the latest techniques and technologies to gently and effectively remove plaque and tartar. Beyond that, we offer advanced adjunctive therapies such as medical-grade ozone therapy for disinfection and healing, laser bacterial reduction to support gum health, and saliva testing to evaluate your oral microbiome. We take time to educate our patients on the connection between oral and systemic health, empowering you with tools and knowledge to achieve lasting wellness.
We understand that going to the dentist can be stressful for some patients. That's why we go above and beyond to ensure that your visit is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We offer options to help you relax and feel at ease during your procedure. Our friendly and compassionate staff are here to answer any questions to ensure that you feel comfortable and informed throughout your visit.
A whole-body approach to oral health recognizes that the mouth is deeply connected to the rest of the body. Oral issues like gum disease and inflammation can affect overall wellness and are linked to conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and poor sleep. By focusing on prevention, nutrition, and the root causes of oral problems, we support not just a healthy smile—but a healthier you.
Just like the rest of your body, your teeth are alive. They are composed of living tissue organized in a genius self-sustainable design. There are miles of microscopic micro-tubular highways inside each of your teeth connected to a vital pulp.
Maintaining a balanced oral microbiome is the key to maintaining oral health.
The oral microbiome is a delicate ecosystem of bacteria and microbes that helps keep the mouth and body, healthy. When in balance, it protects against disease and supports digestion. But when disrupted, it can lead to gum disease, cavities, and even impact overall health, linking to conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and more. A healthy mouth supports a healthy body. In this ecosystem, the good bacteria protects our teeth while the bad bacteria causes cavities and disease.
The response of dental plaque to sugars is acid production. This acid is what drives the caries (cavity) process. The plaque becomes most acidic 5-10 minutes after eating/drinking sugars, followed by a gradual recovery to its starting value, usually in 30 minutes.
Understanding how the production of acid in our mouths is vital to naturally prevent tooth decay. Whenever carbohydrates are consumed, try and immediately follow them with water and wait at least 30 minutes before brushing, flossing, and tongue scraping.
